The SWN that's DTFM (the blog of the acronym)
A few days ago when we did TRL for MTV in NYC, there lied this enigmatic acronym haphazardly scrawled deep in the concrete floor of the corridor:DTFM. Two employees were completely baffled as to the meaning of the four letters which they could not remove no matter how hard they tried. As we walked by them they asked if any of us knew what it stood for. All I know is Kevin "Sweatshop" Bivona's band has this as their name. So, when the female employee asked me I said, "Yeah, I know what that stands for... it means Down To Fuck Mothers..."They were utterly speechless. All I know is Kevin is one SWN that is DTFM! P.S. Here's a pic of my finger right after I got off stage several nights ago... photo courtesy of Chris "Loofus" Holmes *Sh@nE*
May 17th 2007 Two nights ago I cut my right index finger open during the first song of our set. I actually ripped my entire cuticle off...YIKES! Immediately my guitars found themselves drowning in a sea of crimson and caught in the rip tide of punk rock angst. **Special thanks to Chris "I'll mindfreak your face!" Homes for the pics**
*Sh@nE* May 11th 2007 I wanted to take the time to talk about a rad new independent film called DESTROY THE ROCKER. It's a documentary on the music scene during 2005 in my current hometown of Silver Lake, California. My good friend and singer of The Nervous Return made this film all on a hand held video camera. Some of the bands featured here are The Vacation, Midnight Movies, Autolux, Wires On Fire, 400 Blows, The Nervous Return, and several other cool bands. I highly recommend everyone that is a fan of burgeoning local music scenes and random shenanigans to check it out once it gets released. But, until then you should email him on MySpace and ask him to post some scenes on there. Contact Jason Muller at: myspace.com/thenervousretun ...now that I discussed that, I'd like to talk about something else. When I was on tour about 3 years ago I went out for a long night on the town of New York City. I was hanging out with the members of a band we were touring with and by the time it was about 5 AM it was only myself and one other person left standing. Everyone was crashed out in the room and there was only one bed that we would have to share. No big deal ya know? Anyway, I lay down and reluctantly notice my friend taking his pants off...and yes, no underwear! Whoa, that was one of the most odd and uncomfortable situations I have ever encountered...definitely in the top 5 of my tour oddity experiences! Anyway, until next time... *Sh@nE* |
